Claudio Ranieri Wins BBC Coach Of The Year Award

Claudio Ranieri has won the BBC Coach of the Year award after steering Leicester City to a fairytale Premier League title success. The Italian took over from the Nigel Pearson, and defied the odds by guiding the Foxes to lift the trophy last May after seeing off the challenge of big-spending rivals. The experienced coach has managed a staggering 16 sides in his career and arrived in Leicester having been sacked by Greece after losing to the Faroe Islands. Leicester lost just three league games in 2015-16 and have gone on to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League this season. The 64-year-old said while receiving the award: “It was an amazing story and incredible what happened. “I’m a pragmatic manager but I felt something when we won [3-1] at Manchester City and after we lost [2-1] at Arsenal I said ‘if Arsenal need 95 minutes to beat us we can so something this year.‘
